Snakes of the Southeast

  • Sesqicentennial State Park 9564 Two Notch Road Columbia, SC, 29223 United States (map)

Class is full. You can add yourself to the waiting list through the form below.

Would you like to learn more about snakes, while having the opportunity to see several SC species? Come walk with local expert Brandon Eargle to hear about the variety of snakes we have in the Southeast, what habitats support which species, and which species are in your area.

We'll explore a local paradise Sesquicentennial State Park - in search of moccasins, racers, rat snakes, rough green snakes, water snakes, and more!

Brandon has been a devoted student of snakes for over 20 years.  He travels the Southeast for educational shows, has made TV appearances, and has collaborated with Rudy Mancke and Scott Pfaff for an ETV segment. Please join us for a great day celebrating our sometimes-misunderstood snakes of SC.

***As a bonus, neo-tropical migratory birds like the Hooded Warbler, Prothonotary Warbler, and Yellow-billed Cuckoo, might be seen in the area, so bring your binoculars to experience their amazing journey! SCWF Industry Habitat Manager, Jay Keck, will be on-hand to help you identify birds seen on the trail.
